Timothy Edwards Sr

On Thursday, June 20, 2013, God sent an angel to carry Brother Timothy Edwards to eternal rest in glory. He was born on June 6, 1959 in Murfreesboro, North Carolina, to the parents of the late Geneva Edwards Britt and McKinley Stephenson, Jr. Brother Timothy, affectionately known as Tim and/or Cookie, was a very fortunate and blessed man to have been loved by three families: Geneva Edwards Britt (birth mother, deceased), Trustee Clemon and Georgetta Moore (adopted parents, both deceased), and Sydonia Stephenson (step mother, deceased) whom he loved all so very dearly. Tim was known for his love and dedication to God and his family. At an early age, he joined New Bethany Baptist Church in Harrellsville, North Carolina, and became a member of the Usher Board. After relocating to Alexandria, Virginia, he joined Harvest Assembly Baptist Church, and continued his work with serving on the Usher Board, too. Brother Tim loved to worship and praise the Lord. He was an active and faithful member until his health began to decline. Tim received his education from Ahoskie High School and worked several years on the family’s farm. He held several jobs with various companies throughout North Carolina and Northern Virginia; such as, Georgia Pacific, Hertford County Public School System, TeleCom Communications, Fairfax County Public School System, etc., where he attained a wealth of experience and knowledge that provided him with life-long skills. Tim and Sylvia were blessed to have two beautiful children: Timothy Jackson Edwards, Jr. (TJ) and Taylor Elizabeth Edwards. He was a wonderful family man who truly loved his family. Tim was a big advocate of education for his children, and was actively involved in their school activities. There was nothing Tim wouldn’t do for his family. He enjoyed cooking nutritious meals, carpooling his children to their practices and games and helping Sylvia with her Gum Springs Cheerleading responsibilities. Some of Tim’s other interests included coaching little league football and basketball teams, fishing, grilling, painting, landscaping and exploring / executing creative ideas of inventions. He also loved to travel south to spend time with family and friends. His loyalty, dedication, strength and commitment will be greatly missed. Along with Sylvia, TJ and Taylor, he leaves to cherish his loving memories to seven brothers: Byron Britt (Iris), Stanley Edwards (Gail), Larry Moore, Randolph Moore, Larry Stephenson (Wendy), Lewis Stephenson (Leslie), and Adrian White (Tammy); seven sisters: Edith Bradshaw, Genevieve Evans, Ella Louise Lawrence (Henry), Carolyn Stephenson, Christine Stephenson, and Arlene White. One brother and sister preceded him in death, Horace Britt and Peggy McMillan. He also leaves to cherish his memories: Deaconess Mary Byrd, (deceased), Isaac Byrd (Fern), Jack Byrd (Rosa), Thelmarine Buster (Rev. Lenza), Rosa Banks (Rev. Osborne), William Byrd (Joyce), Deloys Carr (Harold), Golden Graham, Thomas Stevens (Valerie), James Byrd, Mildred Bailey (Anthony), Carolyn Stewart (Michael), Darrell Byrd (NaKia), and a host of aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
